Harrington & Richardson Serialization. 1940 to 1982 Year.
A new serial number system. The new system consists of four sets of digits separated by a hyphen. The first set is the manufacturers code, the second designates the type of firearm, the third set is the firearms chronological number, the fourth set shows the year of mfg. AYA 1995-2006 Year ser. # end 199516-03-001-95 16-03-800-95.
Remington - Navy Single Shot Pistols, Model 8, 81, 24, 241, RB Pistols (Types- not serial), RB Rifles- 1870, 71, RB Rifle Models- 1866-1933, Contract Lee Rifles, Pistols and Revolvers 1857-1918 (incomplete serial number for some), Rifles 1866-1933 (ditto), Shotguns 1874-1910 Serial numbers unknown.
The serial number listings by month presented below were developed by Scott Duff, a recognized authority on and author of a series of books on the M1 Garand.The following information can be found in the books 'The M1 Garand: WWII' and 'The M1 Garand Serial Numbers and Data Sheets' found at Fulton Armory, and are used here with Mr. Duff's permission.

Harrington & Richardson Arms Co (with the o in Co underlined) Worcester.Mass.U.S.A. I've been using the parts list from Numrich arms to identify and replace the missing parts. I've gotten a replacement trigger spring and a replacement hand with spring. However, the Numrich arms page shows a small coil spring to move what they call the sear.

H&R OFFICERS MODEL SERIAL DATE?

Gun Serial Number Lookup H&r

Hi, I just traded for an H&R Officer's Model 1873 Trapdoor. Although I've tried looking all over the internet, I can't find any info regarding serial number to determine a manufacturing date. I have the North Cape Publications 45-70 Springfield collectors guide, and that has plenty of date info regarding original Trapdoors, but I can't find anything about the H&R or other 'new' repro trapdoor manufacturing dates. Like I said, it's an H&R Officers Model 1873 Trapdoor 45-70 and it's serial number is 1868. Seems like a pretty cool number considering that if it was only 5 digits higher it would match the model number. I don't know if it would make any difference as far as value goes, but to have a model 1873 with an 1873 serial number would seem to be kind of special. So I'm wondering a couple of things. First, when H&R started making these did they start with serial number '0' or '0001' or something like that? And does the serial number mean it was the 1868th Officer's Model that they made? Or maybe the 1868th Model 1873 they made? And finally, how many 1873's did H&R make and how many 1873 Officer's models did they make, and what year was serial #1868 made? And was this number part of a limited edition group? I know I'm asking a lot of questions, but if I could get answers to any of them I would be very grateful. Also, if anyone knows someplace where I might find this info or any other info regarding the new made trapdoors, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance for anyone's help. Thanks! Steve
